We left for Planet Nine late in the afternoon on the day before our family and friends would join us. It would be nice to settle in before the rush of a dozen people boarding and sorting themselves out.
From his highly secretive behavior before we got into our car, I knew Victor was doing something special, or at least interesting. He made several calls, strolling away from me at a discrete distance. I heard Planet Nine’s captain’s voice on one call.
En route, we got caught in traffic, so I called Anastasia and caught up with her. She was plowing ahead on our Greenland project, handling the loan sign-offs and bank transfers to my husband’s company. I turned slightly away from Victor, staring out the window, smiling when I asked my sister-in-law the first question.
“What’s it been like negotiating with Victor’s people, Anastasia?”
“My brother is always in the background - I know it, although he hides the fact very well.”
