Three giggling women left our office and headed straight for Hannah’s apartment. I thought a gaggle of us must intimidate Scott as we discussed our friend’s choice of hairstyle and clothes from inside my nook with the door closed. But he continued working and, when we occasionally became raucous, he smiled, like a man in love.
He kissed Hannah goodbye when we strolled out. Emily and I shot him mischievous looks as we dragged our friend away and left.
The couple were in for a lovely evening, but we didn’t know where their date would be because Scott wouldn’t reveal it. Out of necessity, he disclosed that he would wear a tuxedo, which meant Hannah needed a formal, long evening gown, of which she had four.
She showered while we waited, then Emily blow-dried and styled her flowing strawberry blonde hair into a mass of cascading curls while I did her nails. Hannah needed little to no makeup, just a touch of color matching her nails on her lips, because she was already beautiful.
