Hannah’s Point Of View.
My heart pounded more heavily and faster than our combined footsteps on the sidewalk. The traffic had died down, so there was no background noise to hide behind. Since walking out of Anya’s building, Scott said nothing, but neither had I, since I was afraid of saying something stupid.
How did I not know he loved me until tonight?
He literally remembered every word I said.
And he bought me flowers.
As a young girl, until Anya told me otherwise, I had often considered myself partially retarded because I couldn’t connect with other people the way my friends did. My status as an outlier died the day she entered my life, joyful, friendly, popular with everyone, and kind to me.
