I felt excited, but afraid. I’d always been an employee, and, perhaps to my shame, never an ambitious type. I enjoyed managing people and things but hated squeezing them to the point they broke. I disliked watching people placed in situations they couldn’t handle, something many business owners do.
I have only one choice.
Which means I have no choices.
Only a path to follow.
My father sat in his study, eyeing me cautiously, trying to contain his glee. I knew that when I told him I was considering starting my own agency, he would get excited, but his total lack of visible emotions, aside from a trembling bottom lip, was more than I expected.
